Change

This song is a little more cheeky and fun than my other two. I was inspired to write this it as I battled yet another telecommunications provider who suddenly referred me to a debt collection agency for an account that had been closed months earlier. So much energy, so much wasted time, all for nothing!

I’ve got no reception, building lots of tension,
Companies are dealing with lots of dissension,
I’m thinking of staging a customer defection, but there are
People out there dying of untreatable infection.

We’ve got to make a difference but it’s hard to shift our focus,
If we let these insignificances provoke us,
What’s it going to take to find something to invoke us?

I’ll make a change for the good,
I’ll change the things that I should
And not let these first world problems
Be all that I fight
I’ll keep the passion alight
Well I might, BUT…

The internet’s down, I can’t check my emails,
I can’t update my status or Google gorgeous females,
Going to fail my course ’cause Wikipedia’s got the details, but there are
People in our oceans killing off endangered whales.

Walking through the shopping centre, coming from the station,
The local gym is hiring without an obligation,
A pair of happy hippies bails me up for a donation, for some
Undernourished kids from an undernourished nation.

[Verse 4]
The TV’s on the fritz, I can’t increase the brightness,
I can’t find the chargers for my iDevices,
I’ve written to the government about the petrol prices, but there are
Countries out there crumbling through economic crises.

Australia is struggling to bring home the ashes,
They’re losing all their local games and exhibition clashes,
They’ve even lost their international twenty twenty bashes, but there are
Millions of us killed and injured in horrific crashes.

This is a song I have just written and recorded in memory of my little brother who passed away in January 2011. I dedicate it to any one who is missing a friend.
