This is a song I have just written and recorded in memory of my little brother who passed away in January 2011. I dedicate it to any one who is missing a friend.
LYRICS
[Verse 1]
I woke up one morning to find you were gone.
Time has passed but your memory lives on.
There are many things I wish I’d had the chance to say.
Many things I would have done with one more day.
[Chorus]
When I am blue, I just think of you,
And of all the good times that we have shared.
And I find, in my mind, Sun Shines Through.
[Verse 2]
When you left I didn’t know what I should do.
My world had changed; it was so much smaller without you.
You’d be proud of what I’ve done since we said farewell,
But these are things to you I can never tell.
[Chorus]
[Verse 3]
Wherever you are I want you to know what you mean to me.
Wherever I go, I know, your spirit is free.
I’ll tell my child what a wonderful person you were,
And just how amazing you would have been with him or her.
Welcome to my brand new website and to the first song I have ever written. The recording is not great I’m sorry; having just moved house all my gear is spread throughout boxes and cupboards! Read on for the lyrics… I can’t wait to share more with you over the coming days, months and years
LYRICS
[Verse 1]
I’m watching your mum go through some changes.
The magic of your birth is getting near.
I am filled with love and admiration,
And I just can’t wait til you’re here.
We’ve set your cot up in the corner.
The cupboard’s filling up with all your clothes.
T-shirts, jumpsuits, beanies, lots and lots of socks,
There’s so much more to get, but that’s just how it goes…
[Chorus]
I just don’t know what to expect,
Except expecting a lot, and nothing less.
And like a blockbuster movie, you’ll move me.
There’ll be sleepless nights and occasional fights,
But I know that we’ll get through… Coming soon!
[Verse 2]
I love the way your mum is looking;
The little lumps and humps and bumps, your little tiny jumps and thumps.
Knowing you’re right there with her when she’s lying in the bed at night,
Makes up for her rare hormonal grumps.
Every dad I’ve met has told me just how wonderful it is,
To have this little thing look back at you.
To have a little mouth to feed, to cater for its every need,
To clean it, to teach it, to comfort and to play with too.
[Chorus]
I just don’t know what to expect,
Except expecting a lot, and nothing less.
And like a blockbuster movie, you’ll move me.
There’ll be teary eyes and lullabies,
But I know that we’ll get through,
We’ll be doing it for you… Coming soon!
[Verse 3]
When you’re weary and you lay down in your bed,
I’ll tell you stories and I’ll pat your little head.
If you get lonely I will be right there by your side,
And if you’re scared I will pick you up and give you somewhere to hide.
No matter what’s in store for you, we’ll do our best for you,
Together we’ll face whatever may come.
Through the good times and the bad you’ll know that you can look to us,
Our love is unconditional through rain, hail and sun.
[Chorus]
I just don’t know what to expect,
Except expecting a lot, and nothing less.
And like a blockbuster movie, you’ll move me.
There’ll be piss and shit, there’ll be hysterical fits
But I know that we’ll get through,
And no matter what we do,
We’ll be doing it for you… Coming soon!
